Training Session Log
1.5 hr, 500ft,in snow/ice/standing water (3 inches), no treats, novel articles. Sock, right 4 ft, left, left through standing water patches, right through standing water patches, right, pvc pipe, right, deer path crosstrack, divergent path crosstrack, right, left, left, jar lid.
c/t nose down pulling on track,c/t track recovery (not letting him get off the track more than 3 ft.), c/t check and commitment on crosstracks, c/t article indications. Lots of checking back with me which he hasn’t done for a few tracks, but this was new,never tracked in snow before. Got caught by the divergent track, but when I didn’t commit, he checked and recovered – hard problem. Article indications on pvc and lid, novel items,perfect and sure, and tracks straight through the ice water no problem.

Over 12 hrs aged, temp in the 40’s when run,no food, 4 articles, very very very distracting steer and goats behind, beside, in front of, on track, running around, fighting while we were running the track.
sock,over brush, bell, left, through water, right, sock in tree ( air scented beautifully about 8 ft away, perfect indication of up in the air article, was about 5 ft off the ground), right, right, left, sock. Sock had moved overnight, my guess is by the fox. He was a little put off by the difficulty at first and the fact that the other animals were with us, but started working. did not work head down as much, but was making turns accurately and hit articles perfect, even the bell which i had forgotten and couldn’t see. Needed reassureance that I didn’t need him to discipline the goats and Albert.

On The Road Training Session Log
40 degrees, raining cold rain, breeze, aged 25 min, some food, socks and bell articles, 1500+.

Second section near a bank drive through, which he needs more proofing on strangers talking while he is working – he stops to talk and has a hard time refocusing.

9 hrs, rained overnight heavily, slightly sloped ground, food every other step. Sock, left, right, right, right,left, sock. Hit all but one turn with confidence, hit articles, very suprising. Was right on it!

5.5 hrs age, no food. Dry. human and dog crosstracks.
show ribbon, grass, left gravel grass, gravel road, gravel/grass, hairbrush, grass, left, ditch, brushy grass, sleighbell. had no trouble on gravel, but didn’t pick up the last left on grass at the ditch but was tracking something – either another human track or rabbit is my guess. Indicated ribbon, did not indicate brush, indicated improperly bell.

15 min age, 800 ft. food every 15-20ft, two ditches and changes of terrain, people. The people variable is a problem – he won’t follow the track if there’s people in front in the direction the track moves. Will work in more public areas with higher food. grass, sock, right angle, ditch, road, left woods, right, left, sock buried under leaves, left, road, grass, left, right, sock.
